Vitiligo is a disorder in which the skin exhibits white patches in certain areas which are exposed to the sun. The areas most commonly affected are the legs, hands, lips, arms, and around the mouth. Initially, depigmentation is first observed on the hands, and this gradually spreads to the face, which affects the patient psychologically more than it does physiologically. This is mainly due to the damage on melanin, which is the pigment responsible for producing the color of the skin. It can also affect the mucous membranes, although less commonly, and most often occurs between the ages of 10 and 30. There are several treatments available in the market today, but one of those with high success rates is Melagenina Plus.
What is Melagenina Plus?
This solution is manufactured in Cuba, in a factory called Centro de Histoterapia, Havana. This pharmacological product is an alcoholic extract from human placenta, containing placental lipoprotein fraction. Its active ingredients are melagenina and calcium chloride.
How does Melagenina Plus work?
It generally works by triggering the production of reproduction of melanocytes, particularly in the borders and the inside of the achromic areas of the skin. Additionally, Melagenina Plus helps in accelerating the melanin production process, which induces skin repigmentation. Because of these, the treatment has been very effective and is gaining popularity not just in Cuba but in other countries as well.
How to use
Melagenina Plus is a topical lotion applied on the affected areas. To use this lotion, the bottle should be shaken vigorously, and the lotion is applied with the fingertips over the affected areas. This is done once a day, at the same time each day. There is no need for ultraviolet light exposure or infrared radiation after application. Direct exposure to sunlight should also be avoided.
If this is applied correctly, then a change can be noticed within 3 to 7 days. First, there will be aslight reddening of the area, followed by a slight opacification, and eventually a repigmentation that approximates the natural skin color will be observed.
This lotion can also be applied on affected mucous surfaces, but it should not be rubbed in so as not to cause irritation. Darker areas will be repigmented more quickly when compared to the lighter areas. Upon application, the lotion starts working on the epidermis via transcutaneous absorption, which leads to gradual skin repigmentation.
Is Melagenina Plus safe to use?
This innocuous solution may be used by the elderly and children, including women who are pregnant or menstruating. There are no known serious side effects associated with it. There have been many studies conducted to prove its effectivity, and these showed that 85% of Melagenina Plus users have been cured from vitiligo.
The only caveat to this product is that at the beginning of treatment, new achromatic areas may appear, or at times the affected areas increase in about 40% of users. This effect is only temporary however, and will have no long-lasting effect.
